The Key Word is Integration

Carl Jung wrote: " The psychological rule says that when an inner situation is not made conscious, it happens outside. as fate....When the individual remains divided and does not become conscious of his inner contradictions, the world must perforce act out the conflict and be torn into opposing halves."

I believe that a life well lived is one where we have integrated the disowned parts of the Self. Our particular culture, family, religion and society play a role in our disowning and condemning parts of who we are as "bad." Partly that is necessary: To live with others in society, parts of the Self must be contained, restrained, or redirected. But when we end up believing that essential parts of who we are not good, we are caught in an endless and futile internal battle. Only when we can function as an emotionally whole person can we be authentic to Self and others. That means accepting and learning to work with our primitive emotions; not allowing them to rule, nor condemning them as an evil to be eradicated.
